ALEXANDER QIN

Alexander Qin is an associate of RuiMin's antitrust and foreign investment team. His practice covers antitrust and foreign investment matters in China and the Asia-Pacific region with a focus on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, antitrust investigations, compliance and audits.

Alexander has experience advising clients across a number of industries, including industrial, technology, financial services, consumer goods, and agriculture on merger control filings, national security and foreign investment review related issues. Alexander also has advised several Asia-based clients on the EU's Foreign Subsidies Regulation.

Before joining RuiMin, Alexander worked in Freshfields' Shanghai and Beijing offices.Prior to that, he had worked in Australia, providing employment law legal services to local citizens and was involved in the design of a LegalTech app during his stay in Melbourne. Alexander worked in the Netherlands as a marketing leader for a technology company in the wearable device industry and has experience in the FMCG, real estate, digital platform and pharmaceutical industries.

Alexander speaks fluent English and Mandarin.


  • Experience
    • Advising Viterra on the global  merger control aspects of its US$8.2 billion merger with Bunge, creating a US$34 billion agri-trading conglomerate

    • Advised Sandvik AB on the merger control, foreign investment and general antitrust compliance aspects of its acquisition of Suzhou Ahno Precision Cutting Tool Technology Co., Ltd. (Suzhou Ahno)

    • Advised The Seventh Cinven Fund on the China filing in its and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board's acquisition over the combined entity of group.ONE and dogado, including developing an innovative filing strategy to optimise and streamline the notification process

    • Advised Solvay in developing the filing strategy and engaging with the authorities to secure timely approval in China in respect of its establishment of a joint venture   with Orbia in US, which includes the manufacture and sale of polyvinylidene fluoride

    • Advisiedng the sell-side for Prettl, a European auto component manufacturer on the China merger filing of the sale of its business to Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited, with deal value of €187m



  • Qualifications

    Alexander graduated with a Bachelor of Economics degree from China Foreign Affairs University. He also received a Juris Doctor degree from Melbourne Law school.
